MINI RIPPERS

Broadbeach Surf School is proud to offer our Junior Pathways Program for beginner to advanced surfers aged between 8 to 17 years of age.

The Mini Rippers program gives junior surfers the opportunity to develop their surfing in a safe and supported environment. Junior surfers participating  in the program can progress from beginner to an advanced ability, with pathways to surf and participate in organised junior surfing events.

Involvement in the program also gives participants the opportunity to learn the value of friendship, community, and camaraderie. It also demonstrates a fun and healthy lifestyle, and emphasises the importance of protecting our environment.

To participate in the program, kids can join any of our classes depending on their age. Our coaches will track their progress and tailor what they teach each participant based on their ability and the phase of the program they are in. The Mini Rippers program runs through 3 phases as follows:

Phase 1: Bronze Ripper 🥉

As a Bronze Ripper, junior surfers will learn the basics of surfing, including riding whitewash waves, paddling, and basic manoeuvring of the surfboard. Bronze Rippers will also learn ocean safety and how to identify the safest areas for learning to surf. Basic Surfing Etiquette is also addressed. Award for this level includes a certificate.

Phase 2: Silver Ripper 🥈

As a Silver Ripper, junior surfers will learn how to surf green waves assisted or unassisted by our coaching staff. They will also learn how to manoeuvre the surfboard on green waves and how to get to and from the surf zone safely. Surfing Etiquette is also an important part of this phase. As a Silver Ripper a surfer must have completed at least six lessons with Broadbeach Surf School and demonstrate appropriate surfing ability. Entry to this phase will be at the discretion of Broadbeach Surf School. Award for reaching this level includes a certificate and one free surfing lesson.
